Still adding things to my playlist. Well, sort of. They’re going into a temp folder right now, and when I collect a satisfactory number of ’em I’ll put them on my phone and a flash drive that I keep in the car I drive. I love that newer cars have USB ports in them now. I can keep all my music on a flash drive, plug it in, put it on random, and just go. No annoying deejays, no ads, no poor reception, no bullshit, just music. I think this car’s a 2013, so there you go.
Here’s the latest I added. Just ’cause.
(I cannot begin to tell you how much I had to chase my rolling eyeballs around the room when I saw people going “Supernatural is so cool! They got me liking classic rock!” Y’all, I was listening to classic rock when I was three. My favorite radio station was the classic rock station in high school. That last was thirty years ago. WHERE’S MY CANE.)
Got a couple things updated, the page about Rory’s love life and the one about his boats. Nothing huge, just clarifying a few minor details and adding a couple things in and rearranging some other things. Basically, each one’s got the same message it already had. I did think it was time to mop up most of the snark on the love-life article, though. I am distanced enough from that sorry situation with all the gossip and the outrage now.
I am much amused to find that if you search “Rory McCann boat” on Google, my boat article comes up first after the image thumbnails. I cannot say that for the entire website if you just search my dude’s name, but give it time. You never know. I might get very, very lucky.
(That’s all it really ever is.)
I don’t know if you were around for the previous incarnation of this blog where I mentioned working on a “Clegane dog project.” I got that done a while back. I am not 100% happy with it — I don’t think anyone who makes things is ever 100% happy with them — but it is a face mask, and it’s the one I wear most often when I go out. (I am fully vaccinated now and these things are supposed to protect others from the wearer more than the wearer from anyone else, so after it’s had an airing I don’t mind wearing it again between washings.) Someone hits here now and again from the city I live in so I’m a leeeeettle afraid of running into a reader of this site one of these days while I’ve got the thing on, but aside from that there’s been no static. No one’s even noticed what it is, the fuckers. Not sure if that’s because it’s one Clegane dog by himself (couldn’t be helped: there was no way to have all 3 dogs, be true to the design, and still have it look good — I tell myself Sandor was the last “dog” as Gregor was undead when they finally fought, so it’s just as well) or because I’m simply not running into any Game of Thrones fans, at least any who noticed any sigils whatsoever besides Stark’s and Lannister’s. Who fucking knows.
Anyway, when I made that, I carved a stamp with the dog image to make it, and I still have the stamp. So I used it to make Rory’s birthday card that I sent him this year. I will never know if he got either this one or last year’s, but it’s kind of fun to send them. And if he ever runs across this and still has the damn thing, he can make the connection — “Oh yeah, that’s who sent it.” Ha ha.
I will probably make one more mask just to have a couple around for when I get the creeping plague in the future (did you know we went from around 30 million flu cases in the USA per year to FEWER THAN 2040 FLU CASES IN THE UNITED STATES FOR THE 2019-2020 SEASON??? Don’t tell me masking doesn’t work), and then figure out some other use for that stamp. Seriously tempted to carve a dog going in the other direction and then using the rest of that yellow fabric to make some banners. I’m thinking something that can hang from a dowel, as a small wall hanging. It’ll be cool.
Don’t know if I mentioned I got a frame for the autographed photo finally. I had held off til I could get something with UV-resistant glass. The idea is to keep the photo from fading because when the blinds are up in my bedroom there’s a fair amount of sunlight gets in. So after more than a year’s worth of being stuck in an envelope, Sandor’s got proper pride of place. Someday I might actually get a curio cabinet (I’ve got several things I’d want to put in it), but for now a bookshelf will do. He’s up there with what little I own of Rory’s filmography, a few books having to do with the big man (two of his friend Graham Forbes’s books mentioning him, and a DCI Daley novel), a little figurine of the Hound’s mask, and so on.
I’m half tempted to write to the folks who got me Rory’s autograph last time and see if they still have any leftover stuff. I kind of still want that picture of him in the season 7 outfit, seated on the Iron Throne. GOD he looked good. Rrrowwwlllll. The man just needs to go around in period costume and never wear a tshirt again. That would be just fine with me.
Okay. I stop babbling now. I probably put you to sleep five paragraphs ago. ‘Later.
